With that in mind, here are a few of the questions we’re asked most frequently about shutters, shades, blinds and draperies:

How Do I Clean and Maintain my Shutters or Blinds?

How you clean your window treatments depends largely on the material they’re made of. Some need to be dusted and spot-cleaned regularly, or even vacuumed. Wood can be severely damaged by water and soap, but other materials can stand being completely immersed in water and soap.

Every material requires a different approach, and a different amount of attention, but our professionals will make sure that you know how to take care of yours. We also offer professional window and window treatments cleaning services to help keep your shutters, blinds, or other window treatments is the best condition possible.

Which Treatments are Best for Specialty Windows?

Typically, shutters are the best choice for any specially designed windows because they can be designed specifically for your windows. They also offer a sophisticated appearance that can be a great match for any specialty windows. As an established shutter company, we can help you find the perfect shutters for any room or any windows.

What Energy Efficient Products Do You Recommend?

In the area, it can be difficult to keep your home cool and comfortable without overspending on your energy costs for much of the year. At Elite Shutters & Shadings, we offer a number of window treatments that can help you significantly reduce the amount of energy you use to cool your home. UV shades are the best at this: they’ll reduce the amount of visible, infrared, and ultraviolet light that enters your home through your windows, which can make keeping your home cool much easier.

What is the Difference Between Real Wood and Faux Wood Products?

Wood blinds are typically made from basswood, a hard wood that can be stained very nicely. Cedar and pine are also frequently used, and they have grains and knots that add to their aesthetic appeal. Wood blinds typically come with a four to ten year warranty, and they can be easily damaged, so proper care for them is a must.

Faux wood is damaged much less easily, and it can appear very similar to real wood. Some faux wood is hollow, but our faux wood panels are reinforced with aluminum to minimize any wear-and-tear.
